What is Speed Map?
The Speed map represents the likely settling positions for each runner in the race.
RACELAB’s speed map data has shown approximately 70% accuracy of settling within 1 settling position.
Leader — Runners with good early speed and like to lead.
On Pace — Runners who either lead or race close to the lead.
Off Pace — Runners settling off the pace generally don’t have the speed to lead the race and favour not sitting at the back of the field.
Midfield — Runners with average early speed that settle midfield and look to finish strongly.
Off Midfield — Runners who settle in the middle to rear of the field.
Backmarker — Usually have a limited early speed, and settle at the rear of the field. To win they generally need to have a strong finish.
First Start — Running for the first time. Therefore there is no speed map data for this runner.
Rear — Runners who settle towards the rear of the field who like to finish strong.
